About Me

〘CHROMA×615〙 is an artist creating original tsumami-zaiku.

The name 〘CHROMA×615〙 combines my name with the date I first made tsumami-zaiku.

On June 15, 2019, I joined a tsumami-zaiku workshop without ever having seen tsumami-zaiku before. I simply knew that I wanted to become an artist of some kind. I started my business in 2021.

I make my work for simple reasons:
Because I find it interesting.
Because I wanted to make this kind of tsumami-zaiku.
Because I enjoy making things.

When someone finds value in something I have made and chooses to take it home, I can make the next piece.
That is my ideal way of working as an artist.

There is freedom in what is left over.

Tsumami-zaiku is said to have originated as a craft that made use of leftover fabric. I feel a connection to that history, and whenever possible, I like to use vintage and pre-owned fabrics in my work. I am drawn to giving a new purpose to fabrics that have served their original purpose, as well as those that have simply been left unused.

At the same time, I am the kind of person who wants to try anything that comes to mind.
Silk and cotton, of course, but also wool, synthetic fabrics, leather, wood, beads, and more—I like to work freely, without limiting myself to any particular material.
Over the years, I have created a wide range of pieces, including the “Tsumami Flower Clock,” with pins extending from the flowers like stems, beaded haori cords inspired by traditional beaded obi-jime, and wreaths built around wooden forms.

Combining old and new from my own perspective.
Paying attention to the smallest details, putting time and skill into each piece, and creating things that cannot be found anywhere else.
That is the principle I keep in my work.

My work is available through my online shop.
I introduce my work on social media almost every morning.Think of it as a small gallery where you can simply enjoy browsing my work and discovering the pieces I create.
